KingKool Hostel Terms & Conditions.
The following Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings made for KingKool hostel, owned, and managed by King Monument Exploitatie B.V.. By holding a reservation with Kingkool, the guest agrees to the following terms and conditions. We kindly ask that you take a moment to read them prior to making a booking.
In these Terms & Conditions, the following definitions apply:
1. Definitions
“Company” or “we” means KingKool The Hague City Hostel, owned, and managed by King Monument Exploitatie B.V..
“Booking” means the booking (reservation) for accommodation, functions and/or any other services or items made with us.
“Contract” means the booking and these Terms, and any other Terms and Conditions stated to apply to the booking.
“Hostel” means the premises for which your booking is made.
“Terms” means these Terms and Conditions.
“Websites” means www.kingkool.nl or any other affiliated website where it is possible to make a booking at Kingkool.
“BTW” means value added tax.
2. Bookings
2.1 All bookings made for KingKool hostel are subject to these Terms and Conditions.
2.2 Prior to arrival, KingKool requires either full payment or a deposit to be made at the time of booking. No booking shall be treated as confirmed until the details and/or payment/deposit described in this paragraph has been provided.
2.3 KingKool retains the right to cancel or deny any booking.
3. Charges
3.1 The prices displayed on the websites are an average per night per person until a room selection has been made. A minimum length of stay, deposit, cancellation charge and other conditions may apply to certain rates, as specified. Once a rate is selected on the websites, the total for your requested stay shall be displayed on the reservation summary. Prices shall be charged in the local currency of the hostel (€) and any currency conversion facility is provided as an approximation tool only.
3.2 The BTW breakdown shown is indicative based on the current rate of BTW, and the expected BTW treatment of the goods or services. BTW will be payable at the prevailing rate applicable at the tax point of the invoice or booking confirmation issued and may change depending on the actual rate and the BTW treatment of the goods and services purchased at that date.
3.3 City tax applies to every person staying a night in the hostel. The city of The Hague has set the rate of the city tax in 2022 at € 5,35 per person per night. This tax is due on arrival. Children younger than 13 years do not have to pay the city tax. KingKool is not responsible for any change in the rate the city council enforces upon the city of The Hague.
3.4 The prices of dormitories and/or private rooms may fluctuate from day to day. KingKool is not responsible for any changes in prices or any deviance between on-line prices and reception prices.
4. Check-in/ Check-out Requirements
4.1 In the interests of security and fraud prevention, at the time of check-in, guests may be required to confirm their identity by providing their booking reference, passport, identity card or driving licence.
4.2 Unless otherwise stated on the booking confirmation, guests may check-in any time from 3.00 p.m. (15:00) on the scheduled day of arrival until 10.00 p.m. (22.00). All rooms that have been secured by credit/debit card, or prepaid at the time of booking, will be held until 10 p.m. (22:00) on the scheduled day of arrival, unless otherwise directly agreed with the hostel. Any non-secured reservation will be held until 6.00 p.m. (18.00) on the day of arrival, at which time we will be entitled to release the room into open sale, unless the guest has notified the hostel of a late arrival.
4.3 On the day of departure, we ask all guests to vacate their rooms by 11.00 a.m. If a guest does not check-out before 11.00 a.m., KingKool remains the right to charge an extra night’s stay.
4.4 Rooms are subject to maximum occupancy rules set by the hostel. If you would like further details, please contact the Hostel.
4.5 KingKool does not allow guests of dormitories to check-in after 11.00 p.m. out of respect for the night rest of the other guests.
4.6 We have a tourist only policy at KingKool. It is at the liberty of KingKool staff to cancel a guest booking at any time, providing the situation requires this.
4.7 With regards to long stay bookings, arrangements can be made with management. Without prior contact and agreement, the maximum duration of one guests’ stay shall be 7 nights.
5. Payment
5.1 KingKool accepts the following methods of payment: cash, bank transfer or credit card.
5.2 KingKool accepts the following credit cards: MasterCard, VISA, Maestro, Visa Electron and V-pay.
5.3 Payment for the entire booking will be collected at check-in. If partially paidbefore arrival, the remaining balance will be completed at the reception. Iffully paid prior to arrival, only the city tax will be collected at check-in. Whenextending a booking, the payment should be done before the foregoing bookingexpires..
5.4 Payment for parking will be completed at check-out, if not paid at check in.
5.5 No guest shall be permitted to stay without full payment for their booking.
6. Cancellation Policy and No Shows
6.1 The cancellation policy will vary per booking method.
6.2 When making a booking directly at the reception, after the point of payment, no refund shall be granted.
6.3 All bookings made via www.kingkool.com are non-refundable. However, when a booking is made via the website of the hostel, when occupation allows, it is possible to select a different date for your stay and this must be discussed with KingKool staff. In case of a no-show, without contacting the hostel, there will be no refund or different date.
6.4 Regarding bookings made via booking.com, we have the right to charge the provided credit card with the total amount of the reservation as soon as the booking is made. However, it may happen that we did not charge the given card details before arrival. In that case the booking shall be paid on arrival. In case of a no-show with non-refundable rates, the total amount of the booking will be charged on the provided credit card.
6.5 For Hostelworld bookings the cancellation policy is as follows: you may cancel up to 72h before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or no show, you will be charged the first night of your stay. The deposit you paid on Hostelworld will never be refunded by KingKool. For non-refundable bookings via Hostelworld there is no option for refunded cancellations.
6.6 We have the right to charge your credit card details when you book via Expedia. In case of a no-show the full amount of the booking will be charged.
6.7 For the group booking cancellation policy, please read article 18.4.
7. Changes or Cancellation by the Company
7.1 In the circumstance where KingKool needs to cancel a guests booking, a full refund will be provided. KingKool holds no further liability for situations arising out of such a cancellation. KingKool may, however, use reasonable endeavours to try and re-locate any confirmed booking, cancelled by us, to an alternative location similar in standard to the hostel.
7.2 All bookings are made for a room type in the hostel. If the guest has indicated a room preference at the time of booking, KingKool will use reasonable efforts to honour this. However, there is no guarantee that the guest will be able to stay in the specific room or bed selected; applying equally throughout the duration of the stay, meaning a room or bed change may be necessary. These changes may be due to operational or safety reasons and if the guest is allocated to a room with a lower rate than originally selected, KingKool will refund the difference in room rates.
8. Damage
8.1 KingKool reserves the right to charge a guests’ debit or credit card, and/ or withhold the guests deposit, for any damage incurred during their stay, and the guest hereby authorises KingKool to make this charge when necessary. Damages pertain to the room, hostel or for missing property, with the inclusion of specialist cleaning costs.
9. Parking
9.1 KingKool has limited parking opportunities and therefore, cannot guarantee a guest a parking space unless otherwise corresponded. Parking cannot be reserved online and therefore, the guest must have had prior contact with KingKool if they wish to park.
9.2 Parking will be from check-in (15.00 p.m.) until check-out (11 a.m.) with a charge of € 25,- per night. When discussed with the reception, extra charges may apply when extending the duration of the parking.
9.3 We do ask that the guest leave the keys of a car at the reception in case of an emergency or a changing of the parking spots.
9.4 Cars and their contents are left at the owner’s/guests own risk. KingKool does not accept responsibility for loss or damage.
10. Hostel etiquette: KingKool house rules
10.1 Guest Behaviour. At all times, guests are required to conduct themselves appropriately and to comply with KingKool’s company procedures. Moreover, guests must act in respectful manner, by not causing offence or harm to other guests or employees, not disrupting the hostels procedures and or comfort and enjoyment of other guests. This includes requests from staff regarding behaviour and cleanliness, and respect for property, employees, guests and their health and safety. When a guest has broken these etiquette requirements, KingKool retains the right to refuse accommodation and or services from the person or persons in question. Furthermore, KingKool will provide no refund for the remaining nights of a guests stay and hold no liability for the loss of services if the above rule has been broken.
10.2 Dorm etiquette; When sleeping in a dorm room, the guest should be aware that they are sharing the room and act accordingly.
10.2.1 Late night noise; Guests are required to keep the noise to a minimum when entering the hostel and room late at night.
10.2.2 Personal Hygiene; It is compulsory for guests to comply with the basics of personal hygiene when staying at KingKool. Examples of this include, using the shower and toilet facilities provided, storing personal items neatly, using a locker for dirty or malodourous items and generally being aware of this hygiene clause. When failing any of these basic hygiene courtesies and when staff receives complaints regarding these issues; KingKool reserves the right to terminate the guests booking, with no obliged refund.
10.2.3 Linen usage; It is mandatory for all guests to use each of the three pieces of linen when sleeping in a dorm room. Failure to do so will result in loss of deposit and refusal to do so will result in termination of booking, with no obliged refund. It is not permitted for a guest to use their own linen or a sleeping bag.
10.3 Hostel etiquette; The thing that sets a hostel apart from any other form of accommodation is the social aspect. For everyone to enjoy KingKools facilities, there are a few things to consider.
10.3.1 Respect; KingKool has guests from all parts of the world and so requires each guest to respect all cultures, religions and sexual orientations. Failure to do so will result in termination of booking with no refund.
10.3.2 Night-time; After 23.00pm KingKool requires all common areas, hallways, and rooms to be quiet. Failure to do so will result in loss of deposit.
10.3.3 Around the hostel; When arriving late at night, KingKool asks all guests to respect the neighbours and local area by minimising the noise at these times.
10.3.4 No Smoking; smoking inside the hostel is prohibited. Failure to abide by this rule, will lead to termination of booking with no refund and immediate removal from the hostel. If the fire alarm is incorrectly activated (i.e. due to smoking inside) there will be a fine of €250, payable by the person or persons responsible for activating the alarm.
10.3.5 Soft drugs; due to KingKool being located in the Netherlands (where soft drugs are legally sold in certain establishments); certain liberties apply when considering the use of soft drugs. Therefore, KingKool holds a tolerance policy when it comes to the use of such drugs. This means that soft drug use is not strictly prohibited in the smoking area of the hostel. It is however, not allowed to; smoking soft drugs inside or in front of the hostel, prepare soft drugs to be smoked in the common areas of the hostel. Where staff believe this rule has been disrespected, the guests booking will be terminated, with no obliged refund.
10.3.6 Hard drugs; All hard drugs are strictly forbidden! In the case that a guest is seen with or using hard drugs, or when reasonable suspicion has been raised regarding this clause, the booking will be terminated with no refund.
10.3.7 Extra Guests; Bringing extra guests into the hostel is strictly prohibited. When this rule is broken, the guest will be charged the full price for the extra person. Additionally, the guest will lose their deposit and if there is a remaining booking, this will be terminated with no refund.
10.4 Kitchen etiquette; Our kitchen is a common area and can be used by all our guests. In order to keep it that way, there are a few things one must consider.
10.4.1 Clean your dishes; Guests must make sure to clean, dry and put away any of the kitchen utensils they have used. Failure to do so will result in loss of deposit.
10.4.2 Not your food; The stealing of food is prohibited. In order to prevent this, KingKool asks all guests to label their food with name and check out date.
11. CCTV
We have a fully functioning camera system running 24 hours a day for your and our security. We have the right to use our own footage in whichever way it is needed.
12. Children
All children (a person under 18 years of age) staying at the hostel must be accompanied and supervised by an adult and remains the responsibility of this adult for the entire stay.
Cots and extra beds are available in most of our rooms. However, these are limited and subject to availability. Additional charges may apply.
13. Pets
No pets allowed.
14. Force Majeure
KingKool accepts no liability and will not pay any compensation where the performance of its obligations is prevented or affected directly, or indirectly, by or as a result of, force majeure. This also applies to any circumstances beyond its reasonable control including, but not limited to, flood, pandemic, earthquake, extreme adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, other acts of God, acts of terrorism, fire or failure of electric power, gas, water, or other utility service, plant machinery, computers, electronics, vehicles or any collapse of beds and/or building structures.
15. Limitation of Liability
KingKool will not be responsible for the loss or damage of any property left in the hostel.
KingKool will not be liable for any indirect, consequential or pure economic loss, or any loss of profit, goodwill or opportunity (whether caused by the negligence of the company, its employees, contractor or agents or otherwise). The company’s total liability shall not exceed the value of the charges received by it under the Contract.
Nothing contained in the Contract or in any other document referred to or incorporated in it shall be read or construed as excluding any liability for death or personal injury caused by the company’s negligence or liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
16. Web Site Information
While all reasonable efforts have been taken to ensure the accuracy of information on the websites, KingKool does not accept responsibility for errors or omissions, and reserves the right to amend, cancel or vary any of the arrangements featured on the websites without notice. Please note that in certain circumstances, generic photographic images may have been used to represent the general style of a particular product or hostel.
The content of the websites is the copyright of KingKool, and may not be copied, reproduced, published, distributed or amended for any other purpose without our prior written consent.
Trademarks used on the websites are the property of the respective owners. Hyperlinks to third party websites are provided for your convenience. We cannot accept responsibility for the content or use of third party sites.
17. Baggage storage
On the day of arrival, guests are permitted to drop baggage at the hostel prior to check in time from 8.00 a.m. onwards. Guests will be asked to collect their luggage on the day of check out before 10.00 p.m. (22.00) unless agreed with KingKool staff beforehand. When baggage is not collected after 72 hours (with no prior agreement), KingKool holds no responsibility for holding the luggage.
Long-time storage (more than 18 hours) will only be possible when discussed with the personnel and charges may apply.
KingKool will not be responsible for the loss or damage of any property left in the hostel.
18. Groups
18.1. Definition
Any reservation with +4 individual guests is considered a group reservation. The same terms & conditions apply as for all bookings, according to our full terms and conditions - with the following additions:
18.2. Confirmation & Payment The confirmation invoice you have received from us does not act as proof of reservation but as an offer. Your option becomes a confirmed reservation when payment has been completed no later than max. 30 days before check-in date.
18.3. Damages For any damage to or soiling of our property provably incurred by members of a group we reserve the right to charge repair or cleaning costs to individual members of the group or the reservation holder.
18.4. Room Allocation and Pricing We reserve the right to allocate the beds and rooms in our properties to the best possible fit, or as we see reasonable. We do not offer accommodation for groups in the same room with individual guests, as this may cause misunderstandings and inconvenience with all parties involved. If the only available room that we can host your group in has +2 more beds in it than there are guests in your group, we ask for %50 payment on the empty beds.
18.5. Cancellation Free/refunded cancellation for the entire reservation is possible until 30 days before checkin date. Cancellation between 30 and 15 days before check-in date results in a %50 cancellation fee on the total amount. For cancellations requested 15 days before check-in date or later there is no possibility for a refund. Refunded cancellation for individual beds of a group reservation is not possible, however the amount for the city tax surcharge can be adapted when you arrive with less guests than planned.
18.6. Force Majeure Cancellations reasoned with Force Majeure or higher powers do not pose an exception to the cancellation policy defined above. This includes any rules or regulations concerning COVID-19 or any other diseases, travel restrictions, local, national or global restrictions. All cancellations made for any imaginable reasons (including pandemic or disease related) abide to the deadline for eligible refunds until 30 days prior to check-in.
18.7 Online reservations; KingKool does not accept reservations for more than 4 people via our affiliated booking websites (for example, booking.com) as KingKool cannot guarantee compliant room allocation. When a guest has made a group reservation through an affiliated site, the guest may be asked to cancel the reservation in order to contact KingKool directly. Once KingKool has made this request, it is up to the guest to follow this procedure, KingKool holds no responsibility to track the status of this and will proceed with the group booking when contacted directly.

For the purpose of proper management of the site, the controller may at any time:
suspend, interrupt, reduce or decline the access to the website for a particular category of visitors
delete all information that may disrupt the functioning of the website or conflicts with national or international

Article 5 - Responsibilities
1. The controller is not liable for any failure, disturbances, difficulties or interruptions in the functioning of the website,

(electronic) register.
Article 7 - Your rights regarding information
1. Pursuant to Article 13 paragraph 2 sub b GDPR each data subject has the right to information on and access to, and
rectification, erasure and restriction of processing of his personal data, as well as the right to object to the processing
and the right to data portability.
2. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at reception@Kingkool.nl.
3. Each request must be accompanied by a copy of a valid ID, on which you put your signature and state the address
where we can contact you.
4. Within one month of the submitted request, you will receive an answer from us.
5. Depending on the complexity and the number of the requests this period may be extended to two months.
Article 8 - Legal obligations
1. In case of infringement of any law or regulation, of which a visitor is suspected and for which the authorities require
the personal data collected by the controller, they will be provided to them after an explicit and reasoned request of
those authorities, after which these personal data do not fall anymore under the protection of the provisions of this
Privacy policy.
2. If any information is necessary in order to obtain access to certain features of the website, the controller will indicate
the mandatory nature of this information when requesting these data.
Article 9 - Collected data and commercial offers
1. You may receive commercial offers from the controller. If you do not wish to receive them (anymore), please send us
an email to the following address: reception@Kingkool.nl.
2. Your personal data will not be used by our partners for commercial purposes.
3. If you encounter any personal data from other data subjects while visiting our website, you are to refrain from
collection, any unauthorized use or any other act that constitutes an infringement of the privacy of the data subject(s)
in question. The controller is not responsible in these circumstances.
Article 10 - Data retention
The collected data are used and retained for the duration determined by law.
Article 11 - Cookies
1. A cookie is a small text file placed on the hard drive of your electronic device upon visiting our website. A cookie
contains data so you can be recognized as a visitor when you are visiting our website. It enables us to adjust to your
needs and it facilitates you to log in on our website. When you visit our website, we inform you about the use of
cookies. By continuing to use our website you accept its use, unless we ask permission by other means. Your consent
is valid for a period of thirteen months.
2. We use the following types of cookies on our website:

Article 13 - Applicable Law
These conditions are governed by Dutch law. The court in the district where the controller has its place of business
has the sole jurisdiction if any dispute regarding these conditions may arise, save when a legal exception applies.
